I received a new batch of the DG5 emulator boards this morning, made by the same US manufacturer. I also was able to lower the price from $10 to $8. To order a board, please go to the project page – https://www.kv6o.com/wordpress/projects/kenwood-dg5-emulator/ and read thru the project to see what you’re getting yourself into! There is a PayPal “Buy Now” button at the end of the project description that will take you to the PayPal site for order processing.
Thank you everyone for your continued interest!

Thanks again for providing the boards, I ordered one. Looking forward to the project. Jack
I have populated the board, so it is ready to go. I have two questions: 1) I am not sure where I find the correct software for the Arduino on this project, can you provide it with your response? 2) on the LCD there are 16 connection points and only 12 from the Arduino, I assumed 1-6 and 11-16? on the LCD (not sure though). Overall the project has been fun, now to make it work. Thanks for your help, Jack
Ordered one of your dg5 pcb also ordering the parts for the vfo going to dive in head first! My TS-520S is my first and only hf rig. I love it! de KA5FFC
Finished mine and it works great! It does seem to be off a little on frequency though. Example… 7.050.0 reads 7.050.6 ? I am going to take a peak at the code and see if I can figure out how to calibrate it.
I was never really satisfied with the frequency counter part of the code, I might try a few things as well soon as I am starting to pull together the parts for a nixie display – should look pretty cool!
One thing that you might want to experiment with is rather than reading the 3 signals every sweep (it reads the VFO, then the BFO, then the HFO IIRC) your could read the BFO and HFO every 5 sweeps or so – they BFO changes only when you change bands, so a second or so to recognize that and make a new reading is probably acceptable.
I am also going to try some different frequency counter libraries, it’s been almost a year and a half since I wrote that.
Let me know if you make any progress!

I posted some new code – can you try it out? If needed, there is a correction factor included as well.
