{"id":244,"date":"2014-11-03T18:31:22","date_gmt":"2014-11-04T01:31:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kv6o.com\/wordpress\/?p=244"},"modified":"2014-11-03T18:31:22","modified_gmt":"2014-11-04T01:31:22","slug":"toddfun-com-build-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kv6o.com\/wordpress\/2014\/11\/03\/toddfun-com-build-video\/","title":{"rendered":"ToddFun.com build video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Todd over at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toddfun.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.toddfun.com<\/a>\u00a0has posted a new video, part 5 in his\u00a0Arduino Frequency Display For Kenwood TS-520S HF Ham Radio series:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.toddfun.com\/2014\/11\/02\/arduino-frequency-display-for-kenwood-ts-520s-hf-ham-radio-part-5\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.toddfun.com\/2014\/11\/02\/arduino-frequency-display-for-kenwood-ts-520s-hf-ham-radio-part-5\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the video, he solders up the project, mounts it in a chassis, and tests it out. \u00a0You can also see the previous 4 parts on how he came up with the design on his website. \u00a0Nice to see it built and working out side of my bench!<\/p>\n<p>They did have an issue with the frequency appearing to be slightly off, that might have been the version of code he was running &#8211; the gate time seems to work best (and be most accurate) at 125mS, the original code was using 100mS. \u00a0Another issue that I have run into is that the later Arduino&#8217;s (like the UNO) do NOT use a crystal for the clock &#8211; they use a ceramic resonator. \u00a0Fine if you want to blink some LED&#8217;s, not so good if you want to measure a frequency. \u00a0Todd and I both used Arduino\u00a0\u00a0Duemilanove&#8217;s &#8211; they can still be purchased at places like Amazon.com.<\/p>\n<p>This is all open source &#8211; you can download the project, the BOM and the code from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kv6o.com\/wordpress\/projects\/kenwood-dg5-emulator\/\" target=\"_blank\">this page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Great to see the end product.
