{"id":460,"date":"2017-04-09T17:31:30","date_gmt":"2017-04-09T23:31:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kv6o.com\/wordpress\/?p=460"},"modified":"2017-04-25T17:57:00","modified_gmt":"2017-04-25T23:57:00","slug":"a-lot-of-updates-to-the-dg5-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kv6o.com\/wordpress\/2017\/04\/09\/a-lot-of-updates-to-the-dg5-project\/","title":{"rendered":"A lot of updates to the DG5 project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I finally had some time the past two weekends, and I made a lot of updates to the project &#8211; the code has been updated, I released code for the Nixie and LED versions, I finished off the LED version by mounting it in a chassis, I broke up the project into 3 separate pages for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kv6o.com\/wordpress\/projects\/kenwood-dg5-emulator\/dg5-lcd-version\/\">LCD<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kv6o.com\/wordpress\/projects\/kenwood-dg5-emulator\/dg5-led-version\/\">LED<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kv6o.com\/wordpress\/projects\/kenwood-dg5-emulator\/dg5-nixie-version\/\">Nixie<\/a>, and finally, I moved the code and PCB project files over to <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/sleander1\/DG5\">Github<\/a>. &nbsp;Whew!<\/p>\n<p>The current version as of this writing is 2.0.2. &nbsp;Updates will be directly published to the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/sleander1\/DG5\">Github<\/a>&nbsp;project page. Version 2.0.2 includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stability Enhancement. Locks the values used for the HFO and BFO, updates then only if they have moved more than 500Hz and 100Hz, respectively. &nbsp;This should help eliminate some wander\/wiggle by keeping the two &#8220;fixed&#8221; frequencies stable.<\/li>\n<li>Released the LED version, uses MAX 7219 based, 8 digit, 7-segment display.<\/li>\n<li>Released the Nixie version, uses I2C <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tayloredge.com\/storefront\/SmartNixie\/\">SmartNixies<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Added correction factor (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Added smoothing\/averaging to reduce display jitter &#8211; averages over 4 readings (adjustable)<\/li>\n<li>Code cleaned up and better documented<\/li>\n<li>Changed frequency counter logic to the FreqCount Arduino library<\/li>\n<li>Tested with latest Arduino IDE (1.8.2)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That&#8217;s all for now, click on the project pages to see more on the LED and Nixie versions.
